Guided by Faith
Each day at Manna begins with a devotion and prayer, grounding us in God’s Word and reminding us of the true purpose behind our work. It is in His name that we serve, and it is His love that fuels our mission.
What We Value
Dignity – We treat every client as a valued member of our community, worthy of respect and care.
Compassion – We serve with open hearts, offering help without judgment.
Faith – Our work is rooted in our belief in Jesus Christ and our calling to love our neighbors.
Community – We believe in the power of working together—churches, individuals, and volunteers—to make a lasting difference.

Our History
McDuffie Manna began with a simple act of compassion. In the late 1970s, Mrs. Mary Claire Neal and Mr. John Clary, along with Sheriff Swan, began identifying families in need during the Christmas season. What started as a seasonal outreach soon grew into a year-round mission called We Care, which was officially incorporated as a nonprofit organization in 1984.
We Care operated from 118 Greenway Street, a location generously conveyed to the organization in 1991 by the Wilson brothers—James, John, and Bob. For many years, churches and individuals formed the backbone of support, enabling the organization to serve the community with love and dignity.
In December 2003, the We Care board transferred its assets to a group of ministers and community members working to establish a more centralized, coordinated outreach—what would become McDuffie Manna.
With the Greenway Street property later purchased by McDuffie County and the City of Thomson in 2007 to build the Government Center, the Manna board launched a successful fundraising campaign to secure a new home. Thanks to their efforts and a generous grant from the Knox Foundation, McDuffie Manna opened its doors at 451 East Hill Street in February 2004, where we continue to serve today.
